dumb quest. ,but how do you remove the light switch ,. cant find a button ,. please clue me in ,. maybe a pic or diag.. so close to forcing it !%&#*)@#
ive felt around for an hour . cant locate ! what side is it on ?feel something on the left that feels spring loaded .moves in and out ,and is attached to the knob but dosent release the knob. wires are on the right but cant feel the release button in that location !!
If it is button released pull the handle out as though turning headlights on and let it go, then push the button in and try pulling the handle further may have to jiggle both the button and handle. I am not sure the 41 has the button release though, might be like my 38 where the sleeve that holds the switch to the dash also guides the rod and loosening this sleeve allows the rod to disengage the mechanism Tony
Is there any way you could take a photo to show us what you're dealing with? I don't know what a '41 switch looks like. If it looks like THIS you don't have a button. You need to remove the nut holding the shaft in similar to that shown below. If it looks like THIS you can see the button that needs pressed to release the shaft.

There is a picture on page 282 of the 1941 shop manual. Diffficult to describe. Go to old car manual project and find 1941 shop manual if you do not have a shop manual. Would advise to order one from the FillingStation if you do not have one.
Just feel for the spring loaded device. You'll know it when you feel it with your finger. Push it in and pull on the handle. If it doesn't seem to want to come out, then release a little pressure. You may be pushing the release hole too hard/far.
Use a light and look under the dash and you will see it. It is on the inside edge, toward the steering column.
amazingly simple ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,after its out and I can see it !! must suck to be blind ! I had my fingers all over it . now its perfectly clear , but so not what I thought it would be . now if I had a wiring dia. "power in must go to the fuse holder !? never give up ! sometimes its the 10th try!
thnx for the link. just what I needed . my car came with a new harness . if you can call it that .the previous owner purchased it in the late 70s and left it in the trunk till I purchased the car a few yrs. ago .rats had chewed on the instructions and the ink has faded from time .better than nothing , but not much. the harness isn't made of the orig. style cloth wire but does seem to be good quality otherwise. I did get that link to the headlight story from 6/20, and read it , but didn't see or comprehend the pix . like I said . its all simple after the fact .everything appears different laying upside down in the dark with [bleeped] falling in your eyes !!! tried to do a search mike . but I don't see where to start . no window to enter key words that I see !!
thnx, once again ,simple once you get it . so I start with + then subject , then + ?? on the wiring diag. I don't see any relays . shouldn't headlights and or horn have one ??
thnx gene , I knew mine has dual horns and a relay . but like I said its not shown in the diag. referenced above . im switching to 12v and seems that a relay would be good for lights to , but if its not necassery ! on that subject is there a way to make horns work on 12v without burning up ??
Sure, don't lay on the horn for an extended period. As a kid I remember that my dad would go to the salvage yard every time we traded cars, and would come home with a pair of 6v horns to replace the stock 12v. Much louder. Never had one burn out. Just don't abuse them and they'll last forever.
