Is there a means or method in getting the ignition switch (pop out) out of the housing without a key and without destroying the housing?

It maybe possible if the lock cylinder is not frozen the the intermediate cylinder. There are very few locksmiths that understand those locks and can destroy one quickly. If the cylinders are frozen together it is nearly impossible to release them and have the cylinders pop-out.

I have not had any luck with lock smiths in the upstate NY Area. abut 6 or so month ago i removed the lock from a door handle and took it in for a key to be cut. Note the code for the key was imprinted on the side and all the tumblers moved very freely.. Long story short, he had it for 3 weeks and could not make a key for it.

Check your G&D for help. I would not trust any local locksmith unless you were just getting a duplicate key.

If a locksmith can't make a key using the key code (assuming the lock has not been re-keyed) in a few minutes I surely wouldn't leave it with them. The key codes are available but may be under Harley Davidson as well as Chevrolet. I suspect a key was made but didn't work in the lock as it was frozen. The locksmith tried a few techniques to make the key work with no success. The vast majority of '29 Electrolocks that I have are frozen and so far no means to refurbish them has been found. I can look it over but suspect it will be futile.
