Had the exhaust manifold and intak gakets replaced on my 32 special sedan today. They were leaking and went to a car show 34 miles from my home, yep they got worse so it needed repaired. Had doughnut gasket replaced too, sounds great now! Next problem is dealing with black soot out exhaust pipe. I have a spare carb I will get rebuilt and see if that helps.

Black exhaust means running too rich, hopefully the different carb will cure that.

When taking the carb off. Look on the bottom for some straight screw driver slotted plugs. Depending on the carb but I have found some screens in there behind the plugs. These get crud in them as they are very fine filtering type. Might help. Save that old carb to be rebuilt.
