How do you remove the headlight switch from the dash of a 1937 Chevrolet? Does removing the nut behind the dash at the base of the pull shaft allow for complete removal of the switch assembly? Does the pull knob have to be removed from the shaft?

The nut allows the switch to be removed. You don't need to remove the knob. The shaft the knob is on has an "L" bend that pulls out of the switch housing after the nut is removed.

If you're a club member you should go to your preferences and display the club logo so people know that. If you are just a chat member you might consider joining the club. As you mention the benefits are more than the cost.
