It looks like 1935 EA Master used two different Rear Carrier's.
This info was taken from my 1951 Parts Book 5.504.
1934 DA and 1935 EA Carrier marked "D" (N.D. Pinion Rear Bearing) and stamped "68".
1935 EA and 1936 FA Carrier marked "H" (Hyatt Rear Bearing) and stamped "77".
I have two rears in my shed and I can't find these marks anywhere...I did find the serial numbers and some random casting marks and the casting part number 377707 on both rears as well as a very faint date code on one rear.
I need to confirm the rear carriers I have that came out of 1935 EA (Master) will work in a 1936 FA (Master). Can anyone direct me where to look for the "D", "H" and "68" "77" ?
Thanks,
Mike B :)

Canadian rear axles used a 41x10 ratio ring gear and pinion as opposed to 37x9 in US based cars so I wonder if there may be a clue there.

The 1934 Master and early 1935 Master had a ball bearing type rear pinion bearing. Late 1935 and all 1936 Masters has a roller bearing. The same carrier casting was used but was machiened out differently.

Thanks Gene, that's what I thought, so even if my rears are the early ones they will still work in the 1936 FA, right?
Between my two rears and two others, we can't seem to find the stamp numbers OR the letter D or H ID'ing the bearing type...

I have one from a Canadian 1936 1/2 ton. Nothing interchanges internally. The case is larger. The ring gear rivet circle is the same size, but the hole in the ring gear is larger. The carrier bearings are different. The splines on the axles are larger. The wheel bearings appear larger, but I didn't measure. There are bronze thrust washers under the side gears.

Yes, if the complete carrier and torque tube is used the early 1935 could be used in a late 1935 or 1936. The only thng is if replacement of parts is done the pinion gear na carrier are made for the early ball bearing. If I remember correctly the stamped letter is on the right side.
