35 and 36 water pumps are each listed as one year only. What is the difference? Thanks

Anyone know what the impeller diameter size is ? I have an after market pump with a 3 1/8" impeller. Is it a 35 or 36 ? Thanks

I believe the impeller is also deeper (thicker) on a '36 pump.

Probably correct as the 1936 engine does not use the baffle plate in the block (behind the water pump).

So this after market Permite # PP8011 impeller is 3/4" by 3 1/8". Still don't know if its a 35 or 36 as I don't have an engine apart to compare sizes. Thanks

I will try to remember to look at some pumps when I am at my old shop. It might be a few days.

The 1935 pump is shallower due to the baffle plate as Gene said.

The 1935 water pump is cast 837610. It can be ID'ed by the vanes on either side of the impeller disc being two different sizes.

The 1936 water pump is cast 836078 and it has equal size vanes...

Also, the mounting bolt holes for the two pumps are 1/2 of a hole off so you can't put the wrong water pump on the wrong block (assuming it was built with the correct impeller in the first place).

Mike, You're right. I tried putting a 36 Pump on my 35 once and found out I couldn't get one bolt in. Gene advised me they won't interchange.

My aftermarket pump has different size vanes so will assume its a 35. Thanks for all answers.

I measured the impellers on '35 and '36 pumps. Both measured closer to 3" than 3-1/8". '35 was 3/4" thick, '36 was 7/8" thick. I have pumps with 2-3/4" X 3/4" impellers. Are these '34 pumps?
