Is this a vacuum wiper motor? I just had mine done by Clean Sweep in Oregon (Melissa Klein 541-410-5671). Haven't used the wipers much yet. Good so far.

Just so everyone knows Clean Sweeps phone number has been disconnected, no indication of why.

Could be he no longer has a land line phone and only uses a cell phone like so many people do now.

Well, thats a surprise.

I just checked my phone history, and that number is correct. I had the motor rebuilt in early August.

Just for an update he is still in business. He was so overwhelmed with jobs that he stopped taking calls for a while. A sign of the times when fewer people can provide these services.

$ 200-$300 is the range for a good operating wiper. $100-$200 more for one for soft top car.

Thank you Chipper - Becoming more difficult to find rebuildable cores nowadays that are not warped. Guess the other option is a good coating of RainX on the old windscreen :-)

"Ficken has been limited on what he will do " I am curious what the limitations are. I do know he is fussy about having a "good" core to rebuild.

I understand Mr. Ficken will not try to rebuild most of the older castings as they are warped, pitted or otherwise have limited lifetime. He can't afford to risk his reputation on questionable cores. There used to be a rebuilder that would heat the castings that were not pitted and rebuild them. Don't know if he is still around.

I understand that a good core is best to have. I had that same conversation with his dad 20 years ago as he said he could not rebuild my 32 motor and guarantee it. As it was the only one I had at the time he agreed to clean and lubricate it and reassemble. It is still working 20 years later. It may not be up to original specs but for the one or two times a year it is used it is fine.
