What are the telltale signs that you need to replace the KingPins?

Jack up the front end and try to move the wheel. If you feel movement and or hear noise then probably time. Could be caused by some other things but shimmying, wandering over the road, shakes at certain speeds, etc.

Take load off wheel and grasp top of tire with one hand and bottom with other had. Pull twords you with one hand and away from you with the other. If you feel movement either your wheel bears are adjusted way too loose or the king pins are worn out.

I've got a pretty good shimmy going on sometimes when I hit a bump or dip just right at speed, it's gotten progressively worse in the last year and a half. I'll check this out this weekend, thanks

It could be that the tie rod ends need adjusting.

I recently had the "death wobble" in my '28 Coupe. Kept getting worse. Wheel bearings were a bit loose. Once they were tightened up still had wheel movement. Turned out to be one of the steering balls was loose in the arm. Replaced the arm with a tight ball and problems went away.
