I have a 31 pickup where gas tank is mounted under the seat. It needs replacement and I have found an aftermarket tank that will fit but fuel connection is on top of tank a AN 6. Does the stock fuel pump have enough vacuum and draw to pull gas up and out to fuel pump or is an electric FUel pump needed to assist gas flow

Mechanical fuel pump on the engine should work well. Just be aware that you should have a fuel shut-off valve like the original as the tank can be emptied by siphon if a line should leak.

fuel shut off valve like the original. Never heard of it. Where is it located?

On the trucks with the gas tank under the front seat a shut-off valve is used. When containing gasoline the liquid level is at or above the fuel pump so the valve is necessary if working on the fuel pump or gas lines. Otherwise the tank can be emptied on the ground fairly quickly.

At one time I had a '31 pickup with only about 30,000 miles on it. It had belonged to a fire department. I don't remember the valve but I didn't do much with the truck. I took the fenders off and put them back on and sold it. That was soon after I changed jobs and went from NCR to Delco. Working 3rd shift 7 days doesn't leave much time to play.
