There seems to be more oil than there should be coming from the engine at the bottom of each intake and exhaust rods??????
What do I need to do to lessen it?????

Setting on top of the valve lifters at the bottom of the motor is a push rod for the intake and a push rod for the exhaust valves, the valves are in the top of the engine. As the lifter lifts it pushes the intake or exhaust rod up to open or close the valves. The valve spring pushes the rod back down to cycle again. sorry, I thought you knew??????The valves open and close at different time to allow gas in and exhaust out.
Or were you just being???cute????

That's the nature of the beast when the lifter bores get worn. Mine does the same thing. Use straight 30 weight oil; nothing heavier because it's a splash oil system. It might slow it down but won't eliminate it. I've been thinking of a fix but haven't got around to see if it would work. Just carry a spare quart of oil with you.

At one time you could get oversized lifters. Had those in the 28 Touring I used to have. Don't know if such a part is still available. Enough demand for oversize lifters might get someone to produce them. Don't know of any other solution to the oil bypass problem.

A friend of mine had a similar problem with leaky lifters on his '27 tourer engine, and he slowed the mess down by making 2 sheet steel "dams" higher than the lifters, screwed to the block(after he pulled the engine out for an overhaul)with sealant between the sheet metal and the block.
