I need to take apart the pull ropes assist that go on either side of the center door post (inside). Need to have the brackets re-chromed. Anyone know how to disassemble them?

Your best bet is to take the assist straps to a quality automotive upholstery shop to see how they would take them apart. Also, the assist strap brackets were not chromed.......they were nickel plated.

Thanks JYD, I thought that since most of the other inside items were Nickel they might be also but forgot to ask. I have one almost disassembled. It has a spring down the center and the cords go into a wooden ring with the fuzz ball ? below that. Don' want to break the wooden collar or rind. I'll be finding an upholstery shop.
