Hi,

I've posted in the parts wanted section too but thought I'd post here as I've seen the most activity for graining in this forum:

I'm looking for some wood graining tools to do the garnish moldings and other pieces on my car.

Would like to buy or rent the tools to do this.

Thanks!

I know some that have had success with the tools but others with crumpled up newspaper, aluminum foil, pieces of sponge, foam and other less commercial tools. Doesn't cost too much to practice as the glaze can be worked and removed multiple times if not satisfactory

I woodgrained the interior dash/moldings of my 1940 Master Deluxe Sport Sedan using a woodgraining kit purchased from Grain-it Techologies Inc.

There was definetly a learning curve but I was very pleased with the final results. It was a very timely and multistage process. All the tools and materials are not cheap, but they are very good quality. Excellent videos on their site to look at. (Great customer service too.)

The website is:

Good luck!
Curt

Thanks I was going to get the paints from Grain-It eventually when I'm ready. I had forgotten about the alternative "tools" to experiment with Chipper.

I'm not doing any time soon, I just keep reading about people buying the Grain-It kits and being expensive so figure someone, somewhere might want to part with their Grain-It tools that are collecting dust...

I wish someone made a water transfer woodgrain film like many of the original ones that GM used. Any I've found are really heavy vinyl and look fake.
