Obviously the tail light stands were painted body colour on my 38 coupe.

Was the tail light body painted body colour or left matt black?
The left rear T-shaped license mounting frame should be body coloured?
How about the accessory Reverse Lamp? They came black but were they body matched as well?

Thanks

The tail light body, stand and license bracket was body color.
The back-up lamps came painted black and I have never seen one body color.

Gene, was the back-up light an original accessory back in 38 or was it a dealer option?

It was not a factory installed option but rather a dealer installed accessory.

In 1938 there were very few factory installed options.
Just off hand the options would be an oil bath air cleaner, tire sizes, interior fabric on Master Deluxe sedans, genertors, etc.
When the car was delivered to the dealer it had no heater, radio, etc. They were all dealer installed accessories.

Thanks Gene. Was the front license plate bracket body colour as well? I have one black and one body colour.

The front was black because it was attached to the black bumper bracket.
In 1939 the front was fender color as it was attached to the front fender.

Note that white wall tires are not listed in 1938 tire options.
