What is the correct, original headlight for 1955? One headlight on my ”˜55 hardtop says Guide, and the other says Tung Sol. Thanks, Sid

The early 1955 had a metal back Guide. The late 1955 had an all glass Guide WITH NO AIMING BUMPS.1956 had all glass with the T-3 aiming bumps.

the12v metal backed headlights were also used on 1955 corvettes and they usually command 100 to 200 bucks a piece. there is a fellow in the pacific northwest when replaces the bulbs in these old metal backed 12 v headlights. if u find a pair of non-working bulbs, email me for his contact info. mike mccGH

The metal backed also have a "12V" in the center and the later all glass bulbs have a "12-V" in the center.
