Hi everyone I just inherited my grandfather's completely original 1935 business coupe. It has been in storage for the better part of my life. My grandfather was a member of your club for a long time. I was able to locate an nos carb, water pump and tune up parts and had it running a couple weeks ago. The problem I have is it leaks water out as fast as you put it in Most of this was the water pump which I have now, but the radiator hose fittings are rotted away. I got a nice original 1936 radiator thinking it could be used to repair my 35 unit. When I got home and compared them the core is a different size and I think it would be a shame to only use the outlets from such a nice piece. Anybody out there have a 35 radiator, parts, or advice? I also would be willing to sell the 36 master radiator I have.

Normally, we take the defective radiator to a radiator shop. If it can't be repaired, the solution is to replace the core and use the tanks from your old radiator.
I have a '35 Standard which I have owned since 1973. It is my opinion and the opinion of some others that the cooling system was inadequate on these cars when they were new. Mine has run hot with two different engines and two different radiators. If you want to drive and enjoy your car more than you are concerned about authenticity, I suggest you get an aluminum radiator made to fit, paint it black, an go for a ride. A couple of years ago I found and installed a truck fan blade on my car. It seems to have helped a little. There is an aluminum radiator in the future for my coupe.
PRC Radiators out of Indiana builds very nice, most any year cars custom radatiors! Here is a small list of Chevys years and models aluminum radiators that they build! Also my brand new PRC Radiator all aluminum for my 34 Chevy Standard new build pictures! I opted to TIG all the hose connections to fit my motor combination with exact placement! Also I have NO mechanical fan and run this electric puller fan setup with a full shroud! This fan will NEVER turn on with ANY outdoor temperature and run all day long at 180 degs will only turn on with stop and go traffic! Plus I made the air diverter on each side to gain all the air when driving like the Chevy Factory setup! Rory
