The SW book says the height of the fuel pump tank bottom should be 3" above the carb at least. Someone a long time ago soldered a petcock to the bottom of my fuel pump and it actually sets at or below the carb?? There is no elbow, just a straight out the bottom outlet. I ran the pump and it is pulling gas from the temporary tank, but I still have an issues with the float in the carb, evidently, as it still drips when constant gas is flowing to the carb, out of a small hole on the carb base. I found a few more holes in the tank and epoxyed them.

1. Is that height of less than 3" going to be a problem?

YES! Anything that low or lower will cause fuel problems. For best performance the bottom of the pump should be in the neighborhood of 1' above the inlet on the carburetor. You can also have problems if the vacuum tank is too high. It can possibly over power the float and cause flooding. (Any fuel coming out the vent hole on the carburetor is a sign of problems with the inlet valve "float".)

TY...I am going to take the carb off for the 3rd. time and see if I can fix it.

1. Should I try to adjust the float up??
