Hello everyone,

I hope this is the best forum to post this in - I'm not sure given the nature of the question.

I *thought* I was purchasing a pair of knee-action shocks for the front of my 1941 Chevy Master Deluxe. They were perfect! Completely rebuilt and ready to go... although once we went to install them we saw the bolt pattern was all wrong. Practically the exact same part, just a different bolt pattern which makes them unusable (grr..).

Given their visual similarity, I am assuming they are from a similar vehicle of a similar vintage. I'm posting a picture here because I know they are tough for people to find and once it's established what they fit, we can probably find them a good home.

That being said, also sadly, I am still looking for a pair of knee action shocks for the front of my 1941 Chevy Master Deluxe. I tried some 30w oil in the ones currently on my car, and let's say they resemble a lawn sprinkler...

Are there any numbers on the castings? That might help us determine what these fit.

Those are definitely not for a 39-48 Chevrolet.

The right ones have a curved arm on the front side when installed and are right side/left side specific.

The ones shown are for other GM cars, You'd have to check the numbers.

Best,

Note also that the Chevy shocks have a 3 bolt mounting configuration.

Okay, I was able to get some photos.

The words/numbers on the shocks appear to read:

"R42"

"1074974"

"Delco"

"Canton, OH"

Hopefully that means something to someone!

Based on that part number those are for a mid-30's Cadillac, Lasalle, or Oldsmobile.

Right you are, Sir! Thank you kindly. Guess I'm still looking for some 1941 Chevy shocks... perhaps in trade for a mid-30's Cadillac, Lasalle, or Oldsmobile pair!
