I have a 31 with a functioning clock. Periodically I hear a buzzing sound coming from it like a motor running. I am guessing it has to do with the winding mechanism. Can anyone shed light on this. It keeps excellent time but I am just curious about what is happening.

Maybe the clock needs to be oiled and the sound you're hearing is a shaft bearing that is complaining.

I'll look at that. Thank you. I had it professionally cleaned last year but it can't be that hard to take apart and check.

You didn't mention whether the clock is electric or mechanical. If electric, probably what you are hearing is the electric wind in action.

Yes it is electric. OK that would makes sense, I just never expected it to be that loud.
