My doors are hard to shut without lifting up hard on them. What can I do to make the strikers higher. Do I have to remove doors and cut metal door plates and re-mortise???

If you have to lift doors to close you have greater problems. Most likely the body wood has rotted and will need replacement. Strikers were not re-mortised as you say as a fix. You should check your A pillars (front door hinge and windshield) and also where they meet the main floor sills.

Check the hinge screws, are they tight? If so you may need to adjust the body and door gap by using shims . The process is explained in some of the service books and service news publications. Has the body been taken off or major work been done to it?

TY.........No work has been done on the wood and wood never replaced. There are some loose screws at the hinges, like I have. I can not find my Service News or Fisher Body Book, but I will keep looking, had a move since then and no telling where the stuff is?????? TY..

No one has mentioned hinge wear, lift the door and see where the movement is, I had to remove the hinges in my '27 and rebuild them especially the drivers door
Good luck

Warpage, twisting, bowing? If your hinges are not worn then put a square up against the "A" pillar and check the opening for square to the floor main sill. Also check that the doors are still square. If the body needs to be re-shimmed then something has moved over the years.
