HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am near deaf?????
I checked at the points and the spark was faint and blue. I took off the old 6v coil and hooked up a 12v coil.... I ran the current through a resistor to the 12v coil directly from the battery. I checked and the resistor and it was working because the light was dimmer coming out of the resistor than going to it.
Turned it over and BAMB!!!!!!!!!!!! It backfired from the exhaust port???? I thought I was shot!!!!!!!!!!!
What can I assume or do next... I have ordered a new 6V coil, points, condenser and dist.cap.

Verify your firing order, and that #1 is on COMPRESSION when the rotor is pointing at #1.

1-2-4-3 is where it is, but can that be staring with No.1 anywhere on the dist. and just going clockwise from anywhere on the distributor??? ?????

I did what you said and I had the firing order wrong...I looked at the rotor and it was pointing at 1 so I moved all the wires to reflect it as 1 and it ran a few seconds and died...First time it has fired in 11 years since, I had it..I am getting closer to running...TY TY TY..
