I'm going to ask a detail question without explaining why, but I may be back with the why if I can't solve my problem. Looking straight down on the distributor cap while standing at the passenger side, with the point nearest the block being 12 o'clock, where should the number 1 wire be?

Thanks, I won't have a chance to work on it for a few weeks, but the information will be a big help.

I always have number one pointing or aiming to number one cylinder. May not be correct but it's the way I do it.

Generally most position the No. 1 spark plug wire over the tab on the bottom of the distributor cap or for later vehicle over the trap door on GM.

JD. I agree but it makes no difference as to clockwise or counterclockwise. The same area on the clockface would be indicated/described either way. Best. Charlie
