My 31 is running lean and likely needs carburetor work. I decided to tune up and check out everything else before reworking the carburetor. I have not found some specs and I would appreciate any info or advice.

What pressure should I expect from the fuel pump? What should the manifold vacuum be?

Also, what grease should go in the grease pot on the distributor? Do I unscrew it and take it off to add grease? How often should it be turned to feed more grease?

Thanks for the help, I am learning as I go.

John

Bill Barker has a good site with tons of info for 1931: 1931 Chevrolet

here is a blurp from the 1929 Service News, not sure if it is the same or changed for testing the fuel pump on a 31

as for Vacuum

Yes, you unscrew the grease cup on the distributor to add grease to the cup.

The lubrication process is explained in your 1931 Owner's Manual.

I am having trouble finding cup grease. If I buy a tube of white lithium grease, is that the same?

Cup grease is just a terminology that we use.....the white lithium grease will work fine.
