My 31 is running lean and likely needs carburetor work. I decided to tune up and check out everything else before reworking the carburetor. I have not found some specs and I would appreciate any info or advice.

Bill Barker has a good site with tons of info for 1931:

as for Vacuum
The vacuum on the manifold is measured in inches of mercury, and the vacuum reading should be around 17 to 20 inches of mercury at idle.

Do I unscrew it and take it off to add grease?
Yes, you unscrew the grease cup on the distributor to add grease to the cup.
The lubrication process is explained in your 1931 Owner's Manual.

I am having trouble finding cup grease. If I buy a tube of white lithium grease, is that the same?
