Hi all. Could someone tell me the correct route that the horn wires run from the steering column to the horn that is mounted in its original position on inlet manifold.
Paul, here are pictures of a 1934 Master and a 1935 Standard engine compartment. They both show the horn wire coming off the main wire harness at the frame rail and, with the generator wires, going up between the generator and the engine block. The horn wires then go into a metal conduit that is held in place by a holder under the top left (driver side) water pump bolt's head.
I think the strap should have a hole in both ends so both ends can be under the bolt, leaving a loop for the conduit. I gave away one from a '35 parts truck, then realized I did not have one for my '36 truck or '35 car. It is very thin and pliable sheet metal and would not be difficult to make.
Paul, I'm glad you asked for a picture. In the process, I discovered the thermostat housing is leaking. The holder at the water pump is the same as several wire harness holders used on the car. In the second picture, you can see the horn wire exiting the hole in the bottom side of the mast jacket and a wire harness holder under the mast jacket clamp bolt.
OK Bill, It's been a long time since I held it in my hand.
BTW, If anyone needs the flexible conduit for the horn wire, I make them for Jim Carter, The Filling Station, and Classy Chev USA. It's 14 inches long with crimped ferrules at each end. The wire terminals will not pass through the conduit. You will have to clip the wires and solder new terminals after passing them through.
Bill, This piece on my 35 Master down by the Steering Box looks like the hole is in the middle, not on the end but I don't know that for sure as I haven't taken it off. My 34 Master has none.
Not sure, because I did not take it off but looks like it might be two pieces. And it's not on the steering box like your 34. Maybe on inside of Firewall.
Jon, on the inside of the firewall on the '34 Master, there are two holders on one fastener. Those two hold the speedometer cable and the wires going to the dash.
