A friend is looking at a restored 1946 Stylemaster. The serial number, in my search, is a bogus number. If you own a 1946, please post either a pic of your serial number or write the initial Numbers and letters, as they appear on your tag. I don’t need or want all of the sequence number part of the entire serial number. Being that we’re in North Carolina, and the car is out of state, North Carolina is a real bugger for correct serial numbers. Thanks in advance.

Was the third digit a “D” or the two digit “DJ” or “DK” ?

The first number could be either a one or two digit number depending on the plant. The first letter is for the year "D" = '46. The second letter is for the model, "K" = Fleetline and Fleetmaster. "J" = Stylemaster. The third letter is for the month.
It might help if you posted what he has.

Thanks Ruscar, the information supplied to me was erroneous, I have now seen the serial number tag, in a pic and all numbers and letters jive correctly. One more question, how was the serial number tag attached to the body ? Screws or rivets it spot weld ? I’ll see if I can post a pic of the serial number tag, I’m not good with pics.

It would certainly help if someone would be so kind and snap a pic of their 1946 serial number tag. Looking for the physical appearance of the tag and how it’s secured to the car.

I know '47 & '48 have screws. ![[Linked Image from pic100.picturetrail.com]](http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL401/9967837/17988031/414233476.jpg) Will look like this '47. Pretty sure!
