Hi. I am restoring a 1919 490 which has been stored since 1929, most is in good restorable condition, although the engine was completely worn out. Fortunately I had a rebuilt 490 engine which I will use. Now I have removed the rear axle from underneath the car and a few things are not so good.
The brake actuating parts are heavily worn so have to be made new. When opening the diff the large gear has chips worn off the top of many teeths, the pinion seems OK, though. I counted the gear and it is 11/40, same as the T-Ford. Snyders has new gears, will it fit the 490 diff? I also ordered new wheels from Bill Calimer, the ones on the car were not to be used.
Why am I doing this? I already have a "sister"car to this, came to Sweden both during the summer 1919 and were registered the same week, although in different places. The one rolling is the sole 490 1919 on the road here so with the project restored there will be two, of the 29 said to have come to Sweden after the WW1, there were no Chevys in Sweden before then.
If someone has the brake parts in good useable condition I am interesed to buy.
Olle
