Hi Mike,

Thanks kindly for your answer. NAPA here in Canada was unable to help as their index does not go back as far as 1941 (they run out in 1962 here). However, it does seem like 1953-1962 Corvette Tie Rod Ends are the same based upon model number, and I *can* order those, so I'll give them a shot. I have ordered from Chevs of the 40s recently, but sadly with cross-border shipping being crazy-expensive, it only makes sense when I'm visiting the US.

Not to worry, that's a reasonable approach regarding topics. Just so I understand, are you saying that you would prefer that I start a whole new thread for the new topic rather than posting in the same thread? Seems reasonable to me; I know each forum tends to have their own preference so if that's the preferred method here I am happy to oblige.

A 1941 has only two tie rod ends and they are both on the left short tie rod. The long tie rod on the right side is "solid" and had no replaceable ends. If it does have replaceable ends it is an after market replacement.

Also check the steering gear pitman arm. It is two iron pieces bolted together with hard rubber bushings between. The replacement bushings are reproduced and require four. This can cause play is the steering whell if the bushings are bad and almost always are.

Excellent, thank you for that. I will investigate as you advise.

Also, wanted to report that the previously-described work is now completed by the "transmission guy". Rear main seal is in and not leaking, front motor mounts and rear motor mounts installed, new clutch assembly, oil pan dropped and cleaned-out, and they also put a new universal joint in as well (since they noticed the previous one was too worn).

So far, so good. Just got to clean up the loosey-goosey steering/suspension and we'll have a really cool car for the Summer!
