Anyone know where to get the guts to rebuild a rear tail Light? Old parts are too rusted to reuse. Any help is appreciated.

I bought a PERFECT reproduction tail light from an ebay member I follow.
It has updated internals which are superior to the original but is otherwise undetectable from an original except NOBODY gets the lenses right.
They are always too red.
At any rate I have followed him for a long time and have never seen another....... :(

Every ones experience is different. I bought a part from him that on arrival turned out to be misidentified and defective (not disclosed). On advising him he simply blocked me and that was that. I understand others on this forum have had similar experience. Apparently he doesn't know anything about what he has and is relying on others to tell him. You may get something good or not. Just saying so be cautious and ask for pictures, details etc, before purchasing.

If you are not requiring original style you might consider LED conversion.

That is true. I have watched his eBay auctions for a long time and many of the items that he has on eBay are misidentified.

I have seen the internal parts listed on eBay. I will have to look to see if I have a trashed tail light with decent internal parts.

I've done the LED circuit board conversion. 58 LEDs. Brighter than bright. Many people comment how visible the lights are. If your car is a driver, you NEED the LEDs to warn the idiots that are tailgating you.
When doing the circuit board, you don't need the original guts, ie socket hardware, etc.
Look at what is listed at Filling Station, or Superbrightleds.com. Not cheap, but work well. When I added my right tail light, the bucket had no guts, which didn't matter.

Things on ebay are misidentified all the time.
When an item is well photographed if I buy the wrong item that's not the fault of the seller.

Unless something changed, I was told the LED conversion kit was unavailable from the FS. I wanted to upgrade both rears but the best I could do was be put on their wish list. If anyone knows of another source, I'd like to know. Thanks.

The ones the FS was handling were made and sold by Lambert Enterprises. At the time I got mine they were located in Norris Tn. Last I knew the owner was ill and all production had ceased. When I recently checked online there was a different phone number and a different address. Ft Wayne Indiana. I left a message for a return call and have yet to get it. If that happens I will advise. The online website did also specify that the light swere designed and manufactured in Tn but the price list was ten years old. Guess I will do a little more digging.

I bought the aforementioned 6 volt conversions from TFS. I installed them in my '36 truck and could not be happier with the results. Too bad about the Lambert folks. They made a nice product. I hope they are not gone forever.

same here, i bought a kit for my 1929, told it was probably the last one, unless there are some hiding out. same story guy was ill and no more being made.

I did my1929 Tail Lamp led conversion and kept it original looking vs hard wiring it as per instructions, as well as rebuilt one original, this way i can swap if desired, since only 1 tail/stop light was on a 1929 !!

yes they are BRIGHT compared to the old incandescent bulbs.

Gary Wallace sold me the parts to rebuild my 1929 tail light (I did have to modify them to make them work) and he sold me LED bulbs to fit.

I did get a call from the new owner who is working to revive the business. Biggest problem is almost all technical data was personal knowledge of the previous owner so not sure how successful he will be. I spoke today with the Filling Station and they are in the process of developing LED kits for 31-36 so anyone interested should give them a call to get on the waiting list.

Thanks Steve. That's good information. Saturday I was at the Old Sturbridge Village show ( with Chistech) and following a Ford that had those LEDS. Very impressive, even in daylight.

I am sending out a 51 tail light to see if they (Lambert) can make a conversion kit for it in 6 volt. Went on a day tour with the NNER Region and one of the members who was following me now wants to see if he can get them for his car-a 37 and almost impossible to see any further away that 25 feet.
