Who have you guys had good luck with for speedometer repair?

Speedometer in question is from a 1966 C10 if that makes any difference. It has been disconnected for decades. IIRC before getting disconnected it was intermittently slamming the needle against the stop.

Thanks.

The erratic movement maybe due to dry inner cable or a sharp bend in the casing. Check the casing for sharp bends then put some oil down the cable.

I think I tried that, but it was a long time ago. It was making a grinding noise and slamming the needle against the top peg.

The cable is getting replaced. I thought I would try to get a leg up on the speedometer because I am pretty sure the drum was dragging. I have no idea how long it takes to get one fixed.

I had one of my 1928 speedometers lubed and calibrated by Commercial Speedometer in Sacramento, CA. They had one old guy who was still working on the old iron. I mailed my speedo to them and they mailed it back to me. It has been running nicely for a number of years now.

Their phone number is (916) 371-5873.

Cheers, Dean
