I have a stupid question that has been bothering my for quite awhile. What should I do with my 1925 Superior K Touring? I don't have a place to store it anymore, My wife said I need to get rid of it. I'm having my 1938 Cabriolet frame off restored and can't afford to restore it when I can buy one the is restored for under $20,000.00. I could make a rod out of it which would make it more valuable but that would mean that it would cost me a divorce. My father started the Chevrolet dealership on July 10,1948 here in town when I was 4 mounts old. The first 1948 Convertible that he sold was to a lady who traded in my 1925 Chevy. It has been in our family for 71 years. It's been in a shed sense 1962 and has less than 37000 miles on it. I love this car BUT!! I know the answer that all of you are going to tell me but I can't bring myself to do it.

Bummer of a situation!!!

Is there a local historic place that would allow you to semi-permanently park the '25 there for display purposes with you keeping ownership? How about a local Chevy dealer? Is there someone in your extended family that would want the '25, so it stays in the family?

Tough choices all.

Thanks Dean. It just isn't good enough to display. It needs a top, interior and the oil pump/ distributer/ generator combination. So it would take a lot before anyone would want it in their dealership.

I would like to see more pictures.
We were on the 4 cylinder tour in Arkansas earlier this month and there was a 16 on the tour that had never been restored, just enough to get it road worthy. They don’t have to be shiny to have fun.

Dens41, you got that right. I love to see them when they looked like they just rolled out of a barn beermugs, that's exactly the way my '25 sedan will look. I have no intentions of trying to make it look 'new'

Definitely let's see more kewl

I wish there was some one that could get it running. It would be great to be on that tour but my wife is not into cars like me. She does like the car but.... Woops I lied. After looking at the pictures it has 38,919 miles on it. I am gluing the steering wheel back together because it dried out too much. As you can see the wood and floor mats are in great shape.

There are several VCCA members in Iowa that have the knowledge and skill to assist getting the car running. Dens41 is one of them. There is another in Underwood (near Council Bluffs). Go to the VCCA website (https://vcca.site-ym.com) sign in as a member [requires membership information on the G&D mailing sheet) and then go to the Members area to do a search to find Iowa members or '26 owners or a multitude of other options.

What part of Iowa are you in? I would love to come and see it.

Denny,
He is about as far to the WSW of Des Moines as you are North. You can look him up on the VCCA online roster by searching his VCCA membership number or name or those residing in Iowa.

I wish you were close to me (Vancouver WA). I would love to help you get your touring running. I like to work on these old fellows.

Ray I wish We were close to you also. My wife wants to move but I told her that if we move our new house has to have a six car garage. That went nowhere!

Denny I live WSW of Des Moines about 60 miles. Greenfield is just 24 miles west of Winterset on Highway 92. If you are going west of Des Moines on I-80 go to the 86 mile marker exit and the south 14 miles. Where do you live? I see Chipper says you live north of Des Moines.

John it looks like you have a very expensive decision to make. Buy a 1926 radiator and generator or buy a 1925 engine. There is no place to hook up the gen/oil pump/ distributor assembly on that engine. The lower radiator hose was moved to the passenger side in 1926 so the generator could be mounted on the drivers side. I wish you the best with your project.

Thank you Steve. I'm dammed if I do it and dammed if I don't. That's my problem.

John, It might be easier it find a '26 radiator even if it is damaged. All you would need to do is find a radiator shop to swap the lower tank if your radiator is in good condition. The generator shouldn't be too hard to get. NOTE: Find a radiator shop who knows how to work with the old radiators. I had a new core put in mine. They said pick it up in two days; it took a week. It was a family owned business and they had to bring the grandfather out of retirement for a day to teach them how to do the job. Too much heat and the core starts to fall apart. Good luck.

That might work Steve, but I'm still missing the distributor and oil pump. My dad took them off back in the 60's to try to get some one in California to machine a new oil pump. The guy died and his widow didn't know where ours was. Then my dad died and left me with this incomplete car. As you know the 25's were the only year for that combination.

John, regarding the distributor and oil pump, I know a VCCA member on the west coast that has some of these extra parts. I'll let him know of your needs.

Hang in there, Dean

I will be surprised if Denny doesn't pay you a visit soon. He is an excellent mechanic and has bow-ties cursing through his veins. Great guy as well. Ed Hedegaard in Underwood is also a dedicated VCCA member. You couldn't have two better guys to help you with your project. I am sure both will do so.

John; my mistake. When looking at your pictures it looked like the distributor was in the block. I photo shopped it and lightened it up and had a better view of it. I thought you had a '26 or '27 engine in it. So forget my suggestions. I have an after market oil pump if you can't get one locally.
