Got one of those too. Danbury mint does a heck of a job on their models.

Best I remember there was a great guy in Michigan, USA that had a black one that was in really nice shape. I can't remember his name.

Anyway Danbury Mint used his car for the basis for their model. They changed the color to cameo cream because that color was unique to the Cabriolet. There may have been other reasons also. I don't know. The color was also bearer for the model than black would have been. Again, I don't know.

If anyone knows the full story, I would sure appreciate them posting it here. dance

Best,

Charlie computer

Actually Phil Hubbard's 41 Cabriolet was indeed the car used by Danbury Mint for all but the colors. A Cameo Cream car owned by Bill Bradford was the one that was used for the paint and interior. Both of those cars were nice. I knew Phil for many years and still run around with Bill often. Many other VCCA member owned cars were used by Danbury Mint including '31 and '32 Roadster pickups owned by a guy in Texas.

I haven't gotten a call from the Danbury folks. Hmmm...I wonder why.

That is the one! Phil Hubbard. He used to stop by my spaces at Carlisle and chat and buy some things. He always paid a fair price for the stuff he bought from me and we never failed to make a deal on something. He alwasys had a plesent, sort of laid back attitude and was a joy to be around.

If anyone sees him, please tell him that Charlie from NC, who he knew at Carlisle, said hello. wavey

Thanks,

Charlie computer

BTW: I think he had a 41 wrecker also.
