Finally got back to this 33 project. I pulled the valve cover and the push rod cover off and got a shock. 4 of the push rods and badly bent. Found the accompanied valves frozen. The puzzling thing is, This engine ran perfect without any taps or noise until I shut it down. The only thing I can think of is maybe the oil pump failed. So I'm getting ready to pull the head and see how much damage was done. I'm crossing my fingers and toes.

A rather commom problem. The old gas forms a varnish on the valve stems. When hot the varnish expands and the valves stick. This usually occurs on the intake valves. Normal fix is to squirt (through the valve springs) a solvent on top of the valve gudes. On a 1933 just fill the top cap on the valve spring. The valves the pistons hit generally are not bent. Also add some 2 cycle oil to the gas.....

I should add after soaking the valve stem gently tap the valve stem on top to work the valve loose. Do not turn valve.
