Hi, my first post.
I inherited a 26 chev 2 door (wood spoke weels) and it's been garaged since. It hasn't been ran since 77 and this summer i wanted to try getting it running and some other things. I thought I'd start with finding out if it's the original engine. It's been 100% restored and no modifications. I use to work on my own vehicles when I was younger but I'm not experienced with my 26 chev. Thanks, 26er

Welcome to chatter.
I personally am not familiar with your model but Chev numbers dont necessarily match as such (Ford was the only manufacturer to do that to my knowledge). There is some numbers cast in the major engine castings and also a number stamped into the block that will date the engine. There should be a plate attached to the front of the front seat or floor in that area and another attached to the firewall and this will detail plant and sequential number of the body including body type and paint. If you post these numbers someone on chatter will decipher them for you.

Thanks, it's the model with a bench seat in the back. 2 door, green (Bloomfield grey) and black.

Hello 26er there are a number of people in Washington state familiar with 4 cylinder Chevs. We live in Vancouver, what area are you in? Art

There are 3 regions to connect with around the Seattle area. Puget Sound, North Cascades, & Mount Ranier. You might call the region director nearest you and see if he or she knows someone who can help you get it running. If you need further help come back to the chat site, someone will pitch in. Art
