Seven months after bringing her home I finally got my sedan together enough for a test cruise around the neighbourhood. This is by far, the oldest car I have ever driven. The smell of oil and gas combined with the musical whining of those straight-cut transmission gears is absolutely amazing!! My cheeks are sore from smiling still. Now I understand what this is all about............
Thanks for everyone's help so far.

I cant't describe what that feeling would be like for you, Tony. That's an awful long time, but will be worth it the first time you wheel it out into the sunshine!!

I have always liked EVERYTHING about owning and driving my old cars. The smell, the feel, the sounds. It is a total experience for me. I, personally, could not get this level of enjoyment from the same car with a modern driveline. The slower pace appeals to me also. Welcome to list of us who like old cars that are all old.

I hear you Mike...its like when you slide behind that big wheel, the view out the split front window turns black & white. Its traveling back in time without the help of H.G.Wells. Anyone who longs for the return of "simpler times" should own an old car. It's good for the soul.....

When I drive my '51 it takes me right back to my HS Days. The good old days.

Sitting in the back seat of my '41 Special Deluxe, I wish this was the car I had back in high school. You know, extra space for all my school books and such. newangel

Why do I spend more time under my car than in the driver's seat?
