Looking at this 1935 CHEVROLET STD. 4 DOOR PHAETON Australian
Just a few questions why are the windshield post round instead of the square Aussie built post? Why isn’t the Holden tag emblem on the left side lower cowl?
On the 35 CHEVY Standard car ID plate on the right side under the seat floor can anyone decipher those #s?
Why is there an extra gage on the dash on the left side is that stock for right hand drive?

Believe Jay Hertz down your way was offering one of these in 2018 same colour combo for less than 40G.

added...........I thought that was jay Hertz former car. The answers to how he got it, who changed the posts, why new data tag, how come rear bow is too high, can only be answered by jay or any owner prior to Jay

Anyway he sold it apparently and now its for sale again by somebody else.

The extra gauge appears to be an accessory temperature gauge that was available for these models.
The I.D. plate does not belong on this car. Some one has added it.
The Holden badge should be on the left side of the cowl but is missing on this car. The windscreen posts on a 1935 Holden bodied car are triangular in shape as apposed
to the square ones used in 1934, although about 10% of 1935s used the square ones. Probably changed after the first month of production. The roof on this car is also incorrect
as they never sat that high at the back. This car also appears to have the wrong door handles. I also suspect the windscreen posts are from an American car but cant get a good enough view.

I am not an authority on the 35 but I think that car was imported as a LHD and not built here. If it was a Aus built car it would have "HOLDEN" body on the tag.

Tony all you have to do is look at the body line ( swag line ) on the main body, thats strictly Australian holden. There is no raised line around the rear wheel well above fender, like a USA stamping, there is no swag line running down the rear quarter panel from the swag line too the gas tank cover panel as USA stamping is. Windshield, it has the 4 sided windshield frame common to holden body , the USA built have 3 sided only on windshield frame .

Complete Phaetons1934-1935 standards , shipped from Canada to Australia, used USA body stampings. Car could be shipped with left hand or right hand drive as ordered. As part of the commonwealth we shipped to NZ and AU .

might have been a sale off ebay privately ? Car had not reached reserve at XXX amount and most likely not going to jump $8G in a few hours.

I have seen some of these phaetons sell for $30G in last couple of years, both USA built and AU holden built. Market is not there for the mid early 30's cars. Drive them and enjoy them because unless something radically changes in the old car scene this is the what you can expect.

Yet you watch B J auction and wayne carini in "chasing classic cars " tv show, and look at what they get for a used Ferrari and just shake your head. Wait until they ask about an oil change , filter, set of plugs tune-up, and they have cardiac arrest . Because the $3000 for that service is what you pay when you have no idea how to do it. Too many wall street guys with hefty bonuses looking for toys to play with.

Hi All, I'm new to the forum. Any rough ideas on how many of the '35 Phaetons are left? Any way to tell how many with green paint/black leather interior/top were made? I'm hoping to put one back together and may need a little help. Considering that 217 were made, I'm guessing not too many are still around.
