Hello I just acquired a '47 stylemaster. The engine appears to be a later 235("square" four{4} screw, square valve cover with the filter type oil filler cap in the center of the cover, and what looks like bosses on the sides for side motor mounts). The engine number on the machined pad behind the distributor reads to be FI 208B.It fits in the car like it was made to be in there.
Any help on IDing this motor will greatly appreciated!!---Any body with info can post it here-email me or PM Thank you

That is a 235 engine from a 1959-1962 Power Glide passenger car. A stick engine would be the same except it came with a slightly different carb. and a piolet bearing.
size wise same dementions as a 216.

Hello Chev-nut Thank you for the info on the 235. Can you narrow down the year with the block #? The number is as I read it shows to be---3769716--I hope this helps!
By the way I think you only live about 10 miles from my kin folks.
THANK YOU AGAIN

That is the casting number and it was used for 3 or 4 years.
The engine number is stamped into the ledge next to the dip stick The B meams PG engine and the F means made at the flint plant.
There should be some other raised numbers dow there that could Id the year.

I live in the exteme north west corner of
West Allis.
