"Tony, Commercial tire shops have cages and they are obviously a good idea. Guys like me, who do little of this tire work, probably won't construct a cage. Some innovation, in the form of loops of chain will serve the purpose and keep you safe.

Yes I agree a cage is probably a burden in the average home workshop and winding a chain is just as suitable, easier to store and useful for other purposes. In the original post I did state "commercial" to differentiate from the "home workshop". Tony
My long winded post, in the 1-1/2 ton tire thread, regarding mounting safety, was the first one I had to re-write and re-submit. The post quoted by Tiny, above is the re-write of the second one that failed to appear.
In the past there have been issues with using word processors to compose a long message and then copy paste it here. The problem is using a editor that inserts special characters not recognized by the software. Using a simple editor like notepad or notepad++ should not pose a issue.
More current versions of this forum have attempted to address this issue with limited success.( like Microsoft Word) There are many of them out there and they all format the page differently.
Another issue could be there is a time limit to how long you have to edit a message, So in a very long winded message you may exceed that limit.
There is no such thing as stupid questions. Just stupid answers.
