Bids are not deals-selling price could be. I am curious as the cast date is 35.

It was probably a replacement head sold new in 1935 or later.

836717 is the Chevrolet part number for a 1932 cylinder head. 836718 is the casting number. That clearly indicates that the head is a replacement. Lacking GM or a bow-tie means it is an after market head cast on November 14, 1935.

Maybe the replacement heads were improved knowing the weaknesses of the originals. That might make it a better buy than an original for a driver.

I think the fact that there is only one day left on the auction and there are no bids speaks for itself. If that was an original tested head there would be multiple bids by now

I believe the cracking issue with the heads of this time frame are do to the casting technology that they were using. Also cooling of the heads too fast. I've always wondered if heads off the production line would have cracks in them.

I've always wondered if heads off the production line would have cracks in them. I heard years ago about a new old stock head that was magnafluxed and it was found to be cracked.
