I'm going to look at a 1936 Sedan Delivery. I need a little guidance. I know condition and originality mean a great deal in value. I'm told it's all original in fair to good condition but hasn't been driven in about a year. Just need some idea of what it's worth. Any other information would be helpful. Anything special to look for to determine condition. I'm prepared to have the entire vehicle inspected - tires, brakes, etc. I'm a retired police sergeant and have wanted an antique police car for a long time. If it's at all possible I'd love to redo it as a paddy wagon. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's a mute point now. I've learned the vehicle is not original. It has a 350 engine and a 400 tranny, Mustang front end and Corvette independent rear. I'm going to look at it anyway. It's not what I was looking for but may be fun to take to local cruise-ins.

In my opinion (not worth 2 cents) but the mods dropped the value by 50%. Then considering what is being admitted there most likely been other mods they are not admitting to. I have done a few engine swaps and know that often other things need to be changed to make it all work. Tony
Tony just my thoughts with how the market is today 2019! The new wave younger generation of buyers are leaning towards Rest-Mod Trucks and Cars plus driving up the sale value with supplys down! They want to just get in and cruise on the open highways with all the safety factors on their vehicle! Just what I am viewing more and more in the last few years! a sedan delivery would be a poor choice for a paddy wagon, unless the suspects are midgets. i think that the panel trucks of the 30's would be more likely to have served as paddy wagons. mike mccagh
Ok all you Suburban, Sedan Delivery, Panel Truck gurus. I know what a Suburban looks like. I thought I knew what Sedan Delivery looks like. All I've seen have no side windows. Did they come with windows. The seller says it has windows. I'm going to look at it tomorrow.

The April 2019 issue of Classic Car has an article on commercial vehicles. The article has an artist rendering of a 1934 Chevrolet sedan delivery with side windows rather than metal panels. The article states that Chevrolet announced that this vehicle had the capability to be a dual purpose when a sedan-type seat was mounted in the rear and could be quickly transformed from a commercial delivery car into a passenger car. The necessary equipment for this conversion was available at extra cost. No mention of this style for later years.
Ok. Here it is. Just a curiosity at this point. It's a hotrod project which I'm not interested in at this point. But I got this conversation started so I didn't want to leave it hanging. It appears to me to be a Sedan Delivery with windows - side and rear door. The lady has an article that describes such a vehicle specially built for the TVA. Apparently smaller than a Suburban but still designed to carry passengers, not cargo. It's a shame it's been bastardized but at some point in it's life it may have been in such bad shape the body was the only part salvageable. Standing by for your comments. BTW, she's asking $20,000 for it if anyone's interested. It need an interior and some paint, chrome and mechanical work.

Thanks Dog. Maybe I'll get it and make a paddy wagon anyway with a sign that says "Hauling Trash". Not really. Too much money and too much work. Thanks to all.
