Hi,

Was wondering what engine oil you guys are using for a 1948 Fleetline 216 engine?

I used the Classic Car Motor Oil 15W-30 from classiccarmotoroil.com last time around but it seems to pricey to get since shipping is quite expensive.

I was looking at Lucas Hot Rod & Classic Car Motor Oil SAE 20W-50 or the 10W-40. Any input is appreciated. I searched other threads but found nothing regarding the 216 engine.

Thanks,
Art

Any good 10W-30 oil is OK. The 216 engine does not require any special oil other than a detergent. In 1948 Chevrolet specified a heavy duty oiil Which was the first name for detergent oil back then See shop manual or owners manual for this.
