What are the key words, or how do you word the request for looking on Ebay for antique or classic cars and parts? Everytime I try it I seem to get nothing but toys being displayed.

Thanks,
Dennis

Post the year and model (as in Chevrolet, Chryslet, Murcery etc) car or truck. if it is something more specific for the year then post that as well.

I usually post 1941 Chevrolet or maybe 1941 Chevrolet rear-view mirror so I get fewer hits but more on point responses. If you leave out the year, you will get many results but not much specification.

Just post what you want.

You can view new listings, highest, nearest, etc by clicking in the appropriate box. On the left hand side there is a link for what sells have ended and what was bid.

Good luck,

Charlie computer

Search for the make and year. In my case I search for "1938 Chevrolet". Then on the left of the page, after the search results show, narrow your search by clicking on "vintage car and truck parts". You'll still have a lot of junk to sift through because sellers mark most anything as "fits a 1938 Chevy" even though it doesn't. If you're looking for specific parts add that to your search terms. Good luck.

I also SAVE the search after the above. You can also use the Advanced Search to add the names of vendors that list annoying things like 2000 massive rims or 1500 rubber antennas. Once you've added the vendors you want to exclude, save the search again. I keep updating mine as new annoying vendors add unrelated crap.

I also report vendors who use "Keyword Spamming" as a form of Search Manipulation. These are the guys that list every make, model, part and year possible at the bottom of their listing. Keyword Spamming is against ebay rules but annoyingly it's very common. I don't want to see a 1975 Ford grill when I search for a 1938 Chevy Horn. Argh!

In addition you can add a minus sign immediately before a word to exclude it from your search.

My thanks to Charlie, Tiny, Canadiantim and Chipper for the help. I've tried all and it seems so simple once it's been explained. Sometimes I hesitate to ask a question because I think its dumb its a dumb question. But I'm glad I asked.

I agree with using the minus sign to eliminate a whole bunch of non-related stuff. I use "-fits".

I made it easy on myself several years ago by making my home page "1938 Chevrolet" in ebay motors "Parts and Accessories". When I open my browser, my home page pops up and if I want to look for parts for another year or model, I simply delete "1938 Chevrolet" and type in what I am looking for. This does not change your home page. Also, in the upper left of my Home Page there is a very colorful "ebay" and right beside that is "Shop by Category". You can click on that and pick whatever category you are looking for on ebay. This does not change your Home Page either. Beamer
