If it has been fitted for a Standard model it will not fit a Master without major modifications.

Thanks gene. He changed his comment when he realized the difference in wheelbase. Also possibly the differential end likely wouldn't fit either. Too bad. It was good while it lasted. All I need is to be able to cruise at 60 and a bit.Take care sir.

The rear end comes with the set up. So the differential and torque tube would not change. Only the length needs a modification. Any major mod like this is not for the “faint hearted” but the reward is tremendous.

If the present parts are from a Standard they will not mix with Master parts. The drive line from the transmission and back was smaller, and lighter in the Standaed cars. + it have 5 lug wheels, smaller rakes and a narrower tread.

If you have a regular 34 engine, you may find that the overdrive unit too tall for hill and even slight grade pulling. It would be best all around to leave it alone. 50-55 is fast enough in that there are plenty of passing zones on our highways for those who are late for work or a date to pass you. Enjoy the scenery. Too much work and expense for a diminishing return. Best, Charlie

It carries 2/3 of the cross-country truck traffic. So unless you can CRUISE at 60, you will collect 12 heavy trucks on your back bumper within 5 miles of leaving town. And yes, there are passing lanes but they are insufficient . So a 34 Chevy on this here highway is definitely not enjoyable. that leaves you riding around town, dodging potholes or the country roads which are all gravel. Mind you the car doesn't mind those as I think it was made for them. What I should have done is a rest mod. I wouldn't have lost anything of what belonged to my dad as there was only the frame and 3/4 of the body left.

This overdrive is designed to protect the engine by reducing the RPM's by 30%. A drivers comfort zone to not hear the engine screaming at just below highway speeds. Driving any faster with 1930's suspension, mechanical brakes etc. is just unsafe. If the car has 4:00 or higher gears the overdrive is a perfect match. 3:73 or 3:55 or so would tend to bog on inclines an fast acceleration. It's for cars with 4:11 - 4:22 etc. A Gear Venders overdrive unit alone not installed is well over $4k. Ask the model A and T guys.

You may increase the speed with an overdrive but the downside is that you load the transmission and the engine more (the rest of the drive train). Better to use the design stuff the manufacture came up with. Pat, only one two lane with a 55 MPH speed limit carrying two-thirds of the cross-country truck traffic? Mercy! I do see your point. I can just picture you as Denis Weaver in that Spielberg movie called "Duel." Not a joyful drive there. Might a few more RPMs on the old engine and given the speed limit then limit the truck traffic behind you? Say 60 mph would find you pulling away from at 5 MPH. After an hour you will be 5 miles ahead of them. Ain't no police officer going to give you a citation for doing 60 in that 34. He won't believe his eyes. Best, Charlie

Even if you could place a Standard into a Master [like not] the lighter Standard transmission could not take the strain of the heaver weighted Master car. It would "give up".
