I’m changing from bench seats to bucket seats and console in my 69 chevelle using all reproduction parts. We cut a hole in the floor (in an indented spot on the transmission hump) for the shifter cable. We then ran the cable from the shifter to the transmission in a straight line. Now when we set the console in place there is a big gap between the console and the transmission hump. It’s like it needs a skirt between the console and the hump. My thought is that we need to locate the hole further forward and move the shifter forward. This means the cable would not be straight. Would it still work with a bend in the cable, or do we need a shorter cable? Moving the console forward reduces the gap, but there is still a gap. The console, shifter and cable are all labeled ”˜68 - ”˜72 chevelle. Did the original console fit better? Thanks, Sid
