I'm having trouble finding a new or used tranny gear for my 46 1/2 ton 4 speed sliding transmission....(4 forward gears and a lockout for reverse..left and down) Any recommendations on where to get one?

speedometer gear....doesn't appear to come apart from shaft

Both the drive gear and driven gear was sold as a matched set. For 1946 4 speed 1/2 ton with 6.00X16 tires and 4.11 axle ratio it is part number 602798 nad also fits various 1940-1946 1/2 ton models.....There ae about 15 diffferent gear combinations for a 1937-1946 various size trucks with 4 speeds.
Bruce Bugay may be able to help you.....I can not find his email right now but some here should supply it.

Don’t know if the speedo gear for the 4 speed is basically the same or similar configuration as the 3 speed, but if it is, the speedo gear slides into the port on the tranny side where the speedo cable attaches to the tranny? One end of the gear mates with the speedo cable.

I actually got lucky and the guy i got the truck from had another tranny with a good speedo gear

Hello,
Can someone help me where I can find and buy a speedometer gear for but Pickup half ton truck 1946.
It is manual and three-speed. According to a previous contact, the gear must have article number 605061.
Grateful for any help

I need speedometer gear set for 1946 Chev 1/2 Ton pickup 4-speed GM transmission casting number "1 GM 590474. Drive gear 4-teeth, driven gear 12-teeth for a gear ratio of 3.000. 1942-1946 Chevrolet shop manual part number 602798. Please reply to this email jrj52@hotmail.com. I would really appreciate any help getting this gear set or one that would work. I don't know what it looks like or dimensions for making the parts, no diagrams or any info like that. Have contacted several sites, got some referrals to go to, but no help in finding the gears. I noticed Stephen C (shade tree mechanic) got lucky and found his parts. Need these gears....
