I am trying to remove the ignition Key Switch from the lower dashboard of a 1954 Chevy 210 DelRay and while it appears to loosen I can't get it come off. Any tricks to getting the switch off. I don't want to damage the plastic ring or scar the ring.

Hope this helps if I understand correctly:

Try this. Should be similar to yours. Turn key to left, push paper clip into hole, turn left a bit more and it should come loose.
