Well, I just put a new clutch in my 60, it was time. So while I had the driveshaft out I decided to replace the hanger bearing and u-joints. On my way up to Hartford for the Area 11 Meet this past weekend I heard a loud banging noise under the car. Upon further inspection on our arrival I found that the spot welds split around the collar support for the bearing
I did not jump on it at all, so the failure was just poor construction. I was lucky that I had a spare and an extra u-joint in the emergency box in the trunk, so I was lucky. I was also lucky for the help of some emebers who let met me do the repair at his home! When we looked at the bearing it had India stamped all over it. I thought BCA stood for Bearing Company of America
Stay Clear of BCA!!!!
