I hope someone can send me a photo of how the accelerator pump spring attaches. Thanks.

Oldcarjay, carbking on this forum may help you. Send him a private message. I would help, but I can't get out to the garage for a while.

The "spring" was late production. The earlier production used a solid link. No one at Carter was able to tell me why this change was done.

There are two ways to install the spring such that the straight side with the link is vertical. Both ways rub on something.

The answer probably lies on the assembly drawing, but it is on a 500 foot roll of microfilm.

When I was still rebuilding, I always replaced the spring with the earlier solid link. Same link was used on Carter 483s, and 574s W-1's.

Jon.

It has been a while since I rebuilt a 569s but recently advised (based on memory as good as that is) that my thought was that the spring was added to reduce the potential to bend the coordinating rod due to resistance in the accelerator pump. Don't remember which way of hooking it up gave it that property.

Oldcarjay, I remembered I had this on a flash drive. Is it what you need?

If that is what you need most of the springs caused a problem and they were replaced by a solid straight link. The spring was used in 1947 and 1948 and it was designed to prevent bending of the external rod which could happen if the pump jet became plugged up. The spring would cause a hesitation on acceleration.
