I am tired of seeing my project just sit there and thought I might get the engine to run. What electrical connections need to be made? Honestly I can not even remember how it all ran. Where does the ground strap bolt to? I assume the voltage regulator will need to be wired into it.

I am trying to remember how I hot wired my 48 when I was rewiring it, so I could put it in the garage at night. I used a toggle switch on an L bracket bolted with a fender bolt to hold it in place. I think I ran a wire from the positive battery terminal and then to the coil. It has been a while. You don't need the regulator in the system as you are only interested in starting and not the charging circuit. Also Gene posted how to do it, but cannot find that in my information diary.

All that is necessary is a wire from the positive battery post to the positive post on the coil, then a wire from negative coil terminal to the distributor points. If you put alligator clip on the wire to the positive coil terminal you can remove it to stop the running engine. Or you can put a toggle switch in that circuit. I have several test engines wired that way.
