Peter, Great idea! I have watched the news in horror as California burns. Each day I think of the tremendous losses to everyone and particularly think of VCCA members. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy. I urge all VCCA members to dig deep, perhaps doing without a do-dad for his or her own car to support this effort. Will you be posting an update from time-to-time on the collection effort? Thank you for doing this. Beamer

VCCA members have access to a list of over 50 Technical Advisors who can help you with your car. It's worth the price of membership! While you can get a lot of information for free in this forum, sometimes the info that you REALLY need is only available from the right person. This is what "The World's Best Chevrolet Club" is all about!

Has anyone heard from Jay yet? (41carguy). Hoping his family and his Chevy collection are OK...

I received an email last night from Dale James with some news from California. Our friends Jay & Louise Nicholson (Jay is 41carguy here on Chat) were evacuated from their home by firefighters, and had to leave everything behind. They have received word that their home and all of their possessions are gone. Please take the time to donate to the VCCA's California Fire Relief fund to help out the Nicholson's and other VCCA members in this difficult time for them. Use this link to donate from the VCCA Homepage. https://vcca.site-ym.com/donations/donate.asp?id=17798![[Linked Image from i150.photobucket.com]](http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s84/brewsterg6/VCCA%20Lake%20Tahoe%202016/IMG_6582.jpg)

I hate to read of anyone that has lost their possessions. It can be devastating both financially and more importantly emotionally. Knowing that others care about them and their well being is very important. It would help to have those in California that know about the situation with VCCA members in the fire areas to post like the above. That way more people will be willing to donate and send positive support to our fellow VCCA family members.

Thankfully I havent been in that situation but can imagine the heartache Jay and Louise are going through. While some of the possesions may be replaceable it seems both are safe and well which is the more important. Tony

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving. Interesting to note the "Happy Thanksgiving" thread has 10 replies while this one only has 4!! Beamer

At our last meeting the VCCA-San Jacinto Region voted to donate $ 3000. to the Calif Fire Relief Fund. A check was sent to Peter to be dispersed as the two Area Directors in the affected parts of California decide.

At our last meeting the VCCA-San Jacinto Region voted to donate $ 3000. to the Calif Fire Relief Fund. A check was sent to Peter to be dispersed as the two Area Directors in the affected parts of California decide. That in itself makes me proud to be a member, and not because it is to California, but rather that the VCCA donates to efforts as such. I would feel the same about a Hurricane relief fund. This was really bad this year, the Butte County Fire was devastating...14,000 homes destroyed...5,000 other structures, 500 commercial buildings... My property is about 3 hours from Butte County, I'm in Lake County. This was a major decision for me, and in fact the Plan Reviewer from Lake County called me on Tues. to tell me that my house plans have been approved...the tough decision was last year and this year as well, trying to decide if I was willing to risk building in a fire hazard area of California. The bottom line is that if I want to live outside of the city, it's a fire hazard area in California. My 'ol '46 is headed to the shores of Clearlake...for better or worse...hoping for the better. With that said, I have a sprinkler plan for my home which was engineered for the structure, and will allow for at least twice the duration of the sprinkler water storage. Most of the lost structures were not up to current codes and few had sprinkler systems incorporated in them. Not that it will save you home, it certainly can't hurt. Thanks to the VCCA for such a nice gesture to the relief fund. I'm sure those folks who have lost their homes will appreciate it. Alan
