Hello all, I had a certified mechanic install a neoprene seal in my 1960 chevy 235 & it was great; Does the lip on seal go to the front of the engine or to the rear? All at once it is leaking. He even installed a seal saver on the crank. What could be the problem? I understood that the neiprene was supposed to be better that the rope seal. Help. Thx

Lip to the front of the engine.
Valve cover or? leaking and oil running down the back of the engine?

It appears to be coming from inside the flywheel housing.

I would still check the rear of the valve cover, clean it all spotless then a 15 - 20 minute drive and recheck with a light and mirror while engine still running. Hot oil will get between the bell housing and block to appear to be coming from the rear main. Also the valve cover gasket is easier to replace than the rear main seal.
