My 32 truck (1 1/2 tonnner) has solid engine mounts, no rubber. The holes in the engine brackets and cross members are irregular and flogged out. Were they originally round holes, or were they elongated in one direction?

The bolts were all long bolts and had been packed with pieces of pipe, except one which had a compression spring on it like a small valve spring. Did these mounts have springs behind the nuts?

Is there anything I need to know before welding up and redrilling the bolt holes?

Thanks

The mounting holes on the frame should be round not oblong. The holes should be just bigger than the bolts. Any movement when the engine is bolted down is not good. I should point out that the '32 passenger cars did have flexible engine mounting. They also had round holes except for the transmission mount.

How Sweet the roar of a Chevy four!
